Privacy Policy
2.1 Purpose
This Privacy Policy explains how RentHaus collects, uses, shares, stores, protects, and deletes personal data when users access RentHaus, create accounts, request quotes, complete bookings, join as vendors, apply as Growth Partners, subscribe to marketing, or use support channels.
2.2 Data We May Collect
• Account data: name, email, phone number, password authentication records, profile photo, city, and location details.
• Verification data: government ID, NIN where applicable, selfie verification, CAC information, business address, bank account details, item ownership evidence, and portfolio evidence.
• Booking data: event type, event date, rental period, delivery address, guest count, cart items, quotes, payment status, deposit status, dispute records, and support messages.
• Payment and payout data: payment references, transaction records, payout records, refund records, bank verification status, and ledger entries. RentHaus should not store full card details unless handled through an approved PCI-compliant provider.
• Device and usage data: IP address, device identifiers, browser type, app interactions, security logs, cookie data, and fraud-prevention signals.
• Communication data: emails, SMS, WhatsApp notifications, in-app messages, support chats, dispute evidence, photos, videos, and call records where applicable.
• Marketing preference data: newsletter opt-in, promotional opt-in, vendor training opt-in, unsubscribed status, referral codes, and campaign engagement records.
2.3 Why We Use Data
• To create and manage user accounts.
• To verify customers, vendors, businesses, bank accounts, and high-risk bookings.
• To process quotes, bookings, payments, deposits, payouts, refunds, disputes, and support requests.
• To prevent fraud, off-platform bypass, theft, non-return, false claims, chargeback abuse, and policy violations.
• To send transactional notices, booking updates, quote reminders, payment notices, refund updates, dispute notices, vendor training, and permitted marketing.
• To improve platform performance, search, recommendations, analytics, risk controls, customer support, and marketplace safety.
• To comply with legal, regulatory, audit, tax, accounting, and law-enforcement obligations where applicable.
2.4 Legal Basis and Consent
RentHaus may process personal data where necessary for contract performance, user consent, legitimate marketplace interests, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, accounting, safety, or protection of users and vendors. Marketing messages should be based on consent or another lawful basis and must provide a practical opt-out mechanism where required.
2.5 Sharing with Third Parties
RentHaus may share limited data with vendors, customers, payment providers, KYC/verification providers, email providers such as Brevo, SMS/WhatsApp providers, cloud hosting providers, analytics providers, customer support tools, auditors, professional advisers, regulators, or law-enforcement agencies where necessary for the platform, transaction, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.
2.6 Vendor and Customer Data Use
Vendors may only use customer information for the specific RentHaus transaction. Vendors must not add customers to unrelated marketing lists, sell user data, spam customers, or contact customers for unrelated transactions without consent. Customers must not misuse vendor information or pressure vendors into off-platform dealings.
2.7 Data Subject Rights
Users may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, and review of certain automated decision-making where applicable. RentHaus may require identity confirmation before acting on a request. Some data may be retained where required for legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or transaction-record purposes.
2.8 Cookies and Tracking
RentHaus may use cookies, pixels, analytics tools, and similar technologies for login, security, preferences, marketing measurement, fraud prevention, and platform analytics. Users should be provided with cookie controls where legally or operationally required.
2.9 International Transfers
Some service providers may process data outside Nigeria. RentHaus should use reasonable contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards when transferring or allowing access to personal data outside Nigeria.
2.10 Security and Breach Handling
RentHaus should use reasonable technical and organizational security measures such as access controls, encryption where appropriate, audit logs, least-privilege access, secure payment providers, and breach response procedures. Suspected privacy breaches should be reviewed promptly and reported where required by applicable law or regulatory guidance.
2.11 Retention
RentHaus should retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes stated in this Policy, including account management, transaction records, dispute handling, fraud prevention, tax/accounting records, legal compliance, and business operations.
